Aaron Cressman, J.D.
ASSOCIATE
Aaron (he/him) is called to the bar in Ontario and British Columbia and has experience litigating and negotiating on behalf of Indigenous Nations across Canada. Aaron’s experience includes representing Indigenous Nations on matters such as Aboriginal rights and title, treaty rights, the Crown’s fiduciary duty to Indigenous peoples, the Crown’s duty to consult and accommodate, and other matters relating to the honour of the Crown. He has also worked with Indigenous Nations on governance related matters, such as child and family services laws, reserve lands, and the enforcement of Indigenous laws.
In addition to working with Indigenous Nations, Aaron has provided strategic advice to businesses on Aboriginal law related matters and has represented natural resource and energy proponents on matters before federal and provincial regulators. Prior to working at White Raven, Aaron spent several years practicing Aboriginal law, environmental law, and commercial litigation at a national full-service firm in Toronto and Vancouver. Aaron holds a Bachelor of Arts with an Honours Specialization in Sociology from Queen’s University and a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School.
Aaron’s work is driven by his commitment to reconciliation and he is passionate about using the law to support Indigenous Nations in their efforts to protect their rights and sovereignty. He is grateful to be able to learn from and work collaboratively with Indigenous peoples in helping to achieve their goals.
